We Just got back from a long road trip. Washington to Michigan. Three days of long driving each way. Many people told us we were crazy for trying this with two little kids. But we decided to try anyway. Baden and I both have some wonderful family memories of road trips we did growing up, and we are enjoying making more road trip memories with our own little family.
It turned out to be a great trip. We had a few days to see family and attend a wedding in Michigan and got to see a few sights along the road as well. My mom came along to help with the girls and driving, since Baden had to fly back to work after the wedding. The girls loved all the grandma time!
There were a few instances of tired crankiness, and not just from the kids; but overall, we have some very happy content little travelers.
We got to see some beautiful landscapes, some dear friends and family, and we found some great playgrounds. We found ourselves searching out Sinclair gas stations, not because of gas quality or price, but because the girls loved seeing their dinosaur statue. Some of our favorite stops included, Wall Drug, the Badlands, an old sod homestead, and lake Michigan.
We got to meet our 1-year-old nephew for the first time and introduce Jessie to some family that we had not seen in two to three years. We really love how much both my and Baden’s families value time together.
